…and i note with approval that they *are* actually showing ‘christmas invasion’. it’ll make some people scratch their heads who haven’t seen the children in need special, but at least it’s tons better than going straight into ‘new earth’.

and it IS season 2, btw, you know. resistence is futile. the rest of fandom has spoken. ;)

While I appreciate all the new Whooligans, the whippersnappers have got to know that The Doctor didn’t come out of nowhere… calling it “Season 2” or “Series 2” is completely disrespectful of Messrs. Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Baker, Davison, Baker, McCoy and McGann–to say nothing of Terry Nation, Douglas Adams and Terrance Dicks.

I can see why they did that though. 15 years is a long time in television. Usually in TV, when a program gets revived along those lines, it gets a new season count. Nobody I know of for instance calls “Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1” “Star Trek Season 4”. Same with the revival of Twilight Zone and other similar shows….

Yes, but–ST:NG was conceived as a new show in the Trekniverse, not the conclusion of the aborted five-year mission. If the Beeb had wanted to do that, just start fresh entirely, then they could have just as well declared Eccleston to be the first of a whole second set of regenerations, they could have just completely dropped all the old continuity. They didn’t–this isn’t a new show in the same universe, this is a continuation of the old show. So, I claim that the old numbering should stand, and that 2008 will mark both Season 30 and the 45th anniversary of the show, and thereby calls for a Ten Doctors episode. :)

I watched one of the new DW’s on Saturday night here. Was much impressed.

    I like Cybermen!

I’m still waiting for them to bring The Master back–and I mean like the Roger “Ah, I love being evil!” Delgado Master, not the Anthony “I’m really Snidely Whiplash!” Ainely Master. Fingers crossed!

There was a sadly unsubstantiated rumor they were going to bring in the Rani in season #3. If they did, I’m sure they’d play up the concept she and the Doctor had been playing “Enter the Vortex” in their youth.

The Master has to be done right – he needs to appear at the end of a SEASON played by the perfect actor. I give it a little longer until they’re ready.

Oh, jeez. Wrapping up the end of a season with that sinister laugh and a vaguely familiar outline that vanishes with the sound of another TARDIS dematerializing… that would just send me right through the ceiling.

Totally jaw-dropping episode. High concept, high character, virtually perfect. Tennant rocked the house.
