Naming Names: J’accuse.

Near forgotten because of the Foley reveletions—and were I of a more conspiratorial mind, I might think the timing suspicious indeed—we have a whole new list of American war criminals, and accessories to war crimes, to add to Dumbass, Darth Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Gonzalez and Wolfowitz.

And that would be every House and Senate member who voted for H.R.6166 and S.3930.

To the Republicans who found the courage to vote for the country and against this repudiation of everything America is supposed to be about: thank you!

To the Democrats who voted for it out of fear of attack ads—particularly my wanna-be Senator (voted for) and my wanna-be Governor (ducked the vote)—fuck you. You’re supposed to stand up to the Rethugs, not cower before them. FUCK YOU! You have three weeks to win my vote back. It won’t go to your opponent… but that doesn’t mean I have to give it to you at all. Fuck. YOU.

My Congressman is on there. Big surprise. He’s an arch-conservative (half his platform is based on eliminating abortion) and a major dickweed. I keep voting against him, he keeps getting back in office.

If there was a viable third party option…

As it is, this “Republican” (for lack of a better term) is not voting the party line.

See, and the reality is that were the GOP still the party of John Anderson and Nelson Rockefeller and William Scranton and Lowell Weicker and Christie Todd Whitman (and for that matter, Prescott Bush himself: financial conservative, social moderate: treasurer of Planned Parenthood’s first national fundraiser in the late 40s, chairman of the Connecticut branch of the United Negro College Fund…), I would probably be a periodic swing vote—I’m a leftie at heart, but I’m not an absolutist on the matter. Hell, by modern GOP standards, even Barry Goldwater has to be considered a left winger. I mean, he only believed in things like personal responsibility and all, a phrase that I am fairly sure has never passed Dumbass’ lips except as a series of connected syllables. He sure has no concept of the meaning.

My Senators are clean. My rep voted for it, but I didn’t vote for him last time, nor will I vote for him this time.

Not only are my Senators and Representative complicit, but by omission and commission my would-be Democratic Senator and Governor… I feel sick.

No surprises on the Minnesota list, particularly Coleman and Kennedy, who are well known for being Bush stooges. (Though Kennedy is kind of pretending he isn’t, due to having to run outside his district for the Senate race.)
