Best. Breakfast. Ever.

Fresh ground coffee prepared Alton’s way (conical filter, one pour, ten seconds off the boil).

Brillat-Savarin cheese spread on Biały bagels.

Pure bliss in the morning. Perhaps the only thing that might have elevated it would’ve been fresh raspberries or blueberries, but even that might’ve been gilding the lily.

Speaking of Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (known particularly to Iron Chef fans for “Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you who you are.”), I have begun reading his Physiology of Taste and am finding it a delightful read, for all of being in the florid, over-written style of the early 19th century.
