123 book meme

Ganked from :

  1. Grab the nearest book.
  2. Open the book to page 123.
  3. Find the fifth sentence.
  4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
  5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

What did I grab? Roger Ebert’s I Hated, Hated, HATED This Movie!, and on page 123, we get the following:

For example, Gossett disappears, apparently eaten by an alligator, and the most Norris can work up is a case of vexation. Anderson seems to be in the movie mostly so that Norris has someone to drag out of danger. There are, of course, the obligatory karate fights, in which Norris flies through the air and aims his magic heels at ths villians, killing or disabling dozens of them.

A one-star review of 1986’s Firewalker, starring Chuck Norris, Lou Gossett, and the now forgotten Melody Anderson.

On the bright side… at least it wasn’t North.

Do e-books count? If so, how do you tell which one is “closest”?

I just grabbed the first book I saw–one presumes dead tree editions, since e-books don’t have any proximity, as such. I Hated Hated HATED This Movie! edged out Asimov’s Nemesis by ten centimeters. :)
